Telling stories to prove the power of design in creating business success

We supported multi-award-winning international brand design agency Pearlfisher with an entry to the prestigious Design Business Association (DBA) Design Effectiveness Awards 2022.

Slightly different to many other awards, these entries go through three rounds of judging by sector experts, with any entries meeting the benchmark receiving either a bronze, silver, or gold award.

In June 2022 PearlFisher was awarded silver for their work on the brand we supported the entry for.

Having won DBA Design Effectiveness awards for over 20 years for their work with the likes of Seedlip, Oui by Yoplait, Help Remedies and Nestle’s Lean Cuisine, Pearlfisher is renowned for creating brands that are not only beautiful but that deliver business success.

They approached us to tell the story of a rebranding project they’d delivered in 2020 with just two weeks to the deadline – which the DBAs are keen to emphasise will never be extended – so we had to work quickly. With a good brief from the client and some strong data, we worked up the story for the success of the rebrand.

There were some impressive impacts – from significant sales increases well above target, to improved position against competitors and increased customer satisfaction. Combining this with the thoughtful and eloquent storytelling that Pearlfisher used in its reimagining of the brand made it easy to put together a strong entry. The new design reflected the individuality and personality of the product and set it aside from others in the market. Our submission needed to do the same.

Chloe Wood is Pearlfisher’s Global Head of Marketing and Communication. After a two week turnaround from initial brief to submission completion, Chloe told us: ““Thank you so much for all your help with this – you were so helpful and so quick to respond. You’ve achieved in two weeks what usually takes us two months. You have been a pleasure to work with and we’d love to partner again the in the future.”
